Track news, trends, & technology with Feedly

Feedly for Android ScreenshotOne of the best ways to keep up with news, trends, and general information is with a feed reader. Feed readers pick up the RSS feed from a website and place it into an easy to read format, much like flipping through a newspaper.

Feedly

Feedly is one of the better feed readers available on the web. Feedly has the ability to be read through a web browser, or through its app for Android and iPhone/iPad.

Feedly’s interface is fairly simple. The interface allows for an easy method of searching for possible fields, making it possible to add news feeds without knowing the actual RSS address. For the web, simply open the site and click Add Content. On mobile, tap the magnifying glass. Feedly will present you with categories to search through, allowing you to find content with ease. You can also manually enter a search term, letting Feedly find the site you want.

Some suggested places for searching or adding through Feedly’s categories:

  • ctl.morainevalley.edu – This will easily find the CTL’s own RSS feed.
  • The Chronicle of Higher Education
  • InsideHigherEd
  • ProfHacker
  • Recode – Technology news
  • Open Culture – Great site with information and content about life, media, and education
