DESCRIPTION:In “MVLA: External Tools to Enhance Your Canvas Course\,” participants will be exposed to various technologies they can use to improve student learning and make information more accessible to students through their Canvas courses. This MVLA course will focus on providing faculty with information and strategies that may be used to improve their Canvas courses. We will explore various technologies that go beyond the basics that are provided in Canvas. Many students are already familiar with many of the technologies that will be addressed in this course. By ensuring that faculty members are familiar with such technologies\, we are able to meet students where they are.

SUMMARY:Transforming Your Use Of The Traditional Textbook - Runs through August 2\, 2019
DESCRIPTION:There are a number of reasons why faculty may want to consider alternatives to the traditional textbook. The rising cost of textbooks and related online publisher content are often a barrier to students’ completion and success. Faculty also note that textbooks may provide useful content in one area of their course but not others or provide too much information outside the scope of the class. Additionally\, textbooks may present concepts in ways that are confusing to students or that don’t reflect the course structure. Open textbooks\, articles\, videos\, podcasts\, and other media can replace or supplement traditional textbooks to engage students and ease their financial burden.
