SUMMARY:MVLA: NEURODIVERSITY FOR HIGHER ED (CTLF-M227-530)
DESCRIPTION:Neurodiversity – the idea that people’s brains differ markedly from each other – is an emergent topic in educational practices. Some ways that neurodiverse brains differ from neurotypical brains can include ADHD\, Autism\, Dyslexia\, Dyscalculia\, Dyspraxia\, PTSD\, and others. Many neurodiverse students process information differently\, perceive sensory input differently\, and have different emotional regulation needs and skills. This class will teach ways in which neurodiverse brains may think and behave differently in educational environments than neurotypical brains\, provide applications and ideas on how to include neurodiverse students more fully in classrooms and help our students more fully actualize their educational experience by working in concert with their abilities to be more successful
