Use Canvas's equation editor instead of an image of an equation.
The Rich Content Editor includes an equation editor for mathematical and scientific notation. Canvas can provide mathematical markup that is more usable with assistive technology than a screenshot or pasted image of an equation.
Place the cursor where the equation belongs.
Open the Equation Editor from the Rich Content Editor.
Depending on the width of the editor, you may need to expand the toolbar/options first.

Build the equation and insert it.
Check that the visual equation is correct and keep surrounding explanatory text in normal Canvas text.
For complex STEM accessibility, the CTL should review the real instructional workflow rather than relying only on an automated scan.
