Large text3 : 1
WCAG 2.1 AA uses at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. Do not use color alone to communicate meaning.
Open the Canvas Accessibility Checker.
In Rich Content Editor content, Canvas can identify common small- and large-text contrast failures.
Use a higher-contrast text or background color.
Prefer the college/theme defaults unless a custom color is genuinely needed.
Keep meaning independent of color.
If red means “required” or green means “complete,” add text or another cue too.
