On Thursday, May 16th, at 1pm CDT, NISOD will be offering a complimentary webinar to all members. The webinar, Growth Mindset: Growing the Minds of First-Year College Students, will be conducted by Von McGriff, the Department Coordinator for College Success and First-Year Seminar at Polk State College.

The webinar will share tools and strategies instructors can use to help students develop a “growth mindset,” one that will catapult them into true college success.

Everyone Communicates, but Few Connect: Effectively Engaging Today’s Learner

On Thursday, June 6th, at 1pm CDT, NISOD will be offering a complimentary webinar to all members. The webinar, Everyone Communicates, but Few Connect: Effectively Engaging Today’s Learner, will be conducted by Dr. Nicole Rankine, a certified teacher, speaker, and coach with the John Maxwell Team who founded The COLE Academy of Personal Growth, a professional development company devoted to helping leaders with leadership development, personal growth, and communication.

The webinar will help participants learn how to identify and relate to all types of students and to forge connections that inspire trust, motivate hard work, and generate positive momentum in the classroom.

The New Science of Learning: Teaching That Promotes Student Success

On Wednesday, June 26th, at 1pm CDT, NISOD will be offering a complimentary webinar to all members. The webinar, The New Science of Learning: Teaching That Promotes Student Success, will be conducted by Todd Zakrajsek, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where he also serves as the Associate Director of the Faculty Development Fellowship Program.

The webinar will provides attendees with evidence about how students learn, shares methods that can be used to get students more involved with course content, and demonstrates applications of pedagogical research that can be used in almost any class.
