International Virtual Exchange Opportunities for Faculty – Fall 2021

IREX invites community college faculty to apply for two different Fall 2021 virtual exchange opportunities.  Both opportunities have an application deadline of July 11, 2021.

Apply to the Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge (GSSC) Program

The Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge program to provides students with an authentic environment that models the modern workplace and supports problem solving and cross cultural collaboration. Over the course of an 8-week period, facilitators guide binational student teams to develop a business concept in response to a provided challenge prompt. The program improves global citizenship, strengthens problem-solving skills, and develops enduring connections, while enhancing students’ job skills.

The eight week challenge will start October 3, 2021 and conclude on November 27th.   Learn more at the challenge’s website.  To participate in the program, facilitators must apply on behalf of their students and schools.

Apply to the Global Solutions Conversations (GSC) Program

The Global Solutions Conversations program to provides students with experience in cross cultural communication, sustainability, and design thinking. The program brings together groups of students from the US, Jordan and Iraq through a short experience consisting of six binational calls. During the calls, students practice cross cultural communication and learn about each other’s culture as they engage in a series of conversations to practice the process of design thinking in order to discuss global issues in their community.   

The six week program will start the week of October 3, 2021 and conclude the week of November 7, 2021.  Learn more at the program’s website.  To participate in the program, facilitators must apply on behalf of their students and schools.
