See the Page History guide for more information. Undelete: Did you accidentally delete an item from your course and want to restore it? Add the text “/undelete” to the end of your website address for a list of items that can be restored. This list doesn’t last forever, so the faster you can “undelete” the better! How do I delete my courses in Canvas?

I heard your question as “How do I manage all these courses?” rather than just “How do I delete those that I don’t want”.  You can delete the master manually created courses that you create. Dashboard Organization Which courses display on your Dashboard when you log in can be managed by clicking the ‘Courses’ icon then selecting  ‘All Courses’. The stars on the left are the way you select which courses you want to see when you log in on the Dashboard. This example “A New Course” will be on the Dashboard and “AA test course shell” will not be […]

Did you know that Canvas has a built in “Roll Call Attendance” tool? With the Attendance tool, instructors can keep track of course attendance by taking roll electronically. Instructors can choose to view the tool in a list or grid format and can customize the placement of each student in the seating chart. To enable the Roll Call Attendance tool: Go to Course Settings > Navigation, and drag the Attendance menu item into the course navigation menu and click the Save button. Students will not see this item on the course menu. Note: The first time you take attendance, the […]

RSS Feed Icon

What’s an RSS feed?

What’s an RSS feed? Ever notice a small icon in your address bar or on a web page that looks like radio waves, just like this one? The icon denotes something called “Really Simple Syndication”, better known as an “RSS feed”. The RSS feed is a way for websites to communicate articles of content through tools known as feed readers. These feed readers allow an individual to add an RSS feed for quick access to a website’s articles without having to visit a website itself. The best part? Most websites have RSS feeds, including this one! All you need to […]

Canvas Tip: Publishing a Course

By default, all new Canvas courses are unpublished. While a course is unpublished, the assigned teacher can access and edit the course, but students cannot access or participate in the course. To publish a course for student access: Open your course and view the Course Home Page. In the Sidebar, click the Publish toggle. See the “How do I publish a course?” guide for more information. Note: Once you have published your course, students will have participation rights in a course during the official course start and end dates. Faculty members can view and override the course start and end […]
