Did you know that Canvas has a built in “Roll Call Attendance” tool? With the Attendance tool, instructors can keep track of course attendance by taking roll electronically. Instructors can choose to view the tool in a list or grid format and can customize the placement of each student in the seating chart. To enable the Roll Call Attendance tool: Go to Course Settings > Navigation, and drag the Attendance menu item into the course navigation menu and click the Save button. By default, all new Canvas courses are unpublished. While a course is unpublished, the assigned teacher can access and edit the course, but students cannot access or participate in the course. To publish a course for student access: Open your course and view the Course Home Page. In the Sidebar, click the Publish toggle. See the “How do I publish a course?” guide for more information.
